One of Sweden’s true vert legends is nowadays spending more time in the kitchen than on his deck. We are of course talking about Hans “Puttis” Jacobsson who together with Mikael Adolfsson, Hans Göthberg and Tony Jansson more or less dominated Swedish vert skating for more than 10 years. Puttis was well know for having a wider variety of tricks than anyone else and for being so impossibly consistent in competitions. Today Puttis runs the restaurant Gamla Staberg in Dalarna, Sweden.

Which skaters has influenced you?
Inspired, it was Tarmo who was the best here, you wanted to beat him. Then there was Göthberg at Smedjebacken and (I) skated a bit with him. Skate and so here you are of course inspired by all those that skate, you get triggered. But inspiration, Gator was riding very … varied and then it was Caballero

[singlepic id=219 w=320 h=240 float=left]Which Summer Camp was the best?

You’ve been to a couple…
What was it … 79, it was Greg Schapek (?) And Mike Weed. 81 was the Caballero

Stacy was 80 and Gelfand
81 was the brown ramp at the mini golf course then there were the emergency ramp I built 82 … no, 82 was the most fun. Then everyone was all there, Grabke was there, you were there, and Slappo was there..

What are your memories of Grabke, from that time?
Ambitious vegetarian … not partying as much as we did …

Nothing on the sketchiness?
Oh, that yes, he was riding damn sketchy …

You don’t remember a small competition we had? The one in the blue ramp where you had to skate as dangerous as possible and Grabke came and asked if he could join and you walk up to him afterwards without having told anything and says: You won Claus …
Yes, but in one year it happened a lot …

[singlepic id=215 w=320 h=240 float=right]What contest do you remember best?
You sound so serious…
Many contests … Huvudsta contest was damn funny and it was head-to-head, hard as hell between me Göthberg and Tony J … more? Hmmm … Well, when I and Folkesson was in the United States 83-84 in Del Mar, the pool competition with Reategui, Kevin Staab, Adrian Demain, John Lucero, and all those …

What happened there?
Third place (without hesitation), beating .. beat all but two … Reategui number one and number two … Staab
There were lots of competitions, 100-150 …

[singlepic id=209 w=320 h=240 float=left]You got your own model as well …
Yes, on Titus Skateboards …

When was this?

That late, how long did you ride it?
It may have been five different decks, five different forms with different printing … 2000, no, 1990 .. when I got kids and started skating less … 91-92 or so … But I skate now too

What are you looking forward to now
Now? Continue to skate long, stuff like that… Too bad I do not have time … to skate more with you guys… and I miss Slappo, who will soon be here… Tony Jansson, Göthberg, Anders Karlsson, Pershing there are many …

[singlepic id=207 w=320 h=240 float=right]We have some quick questions we would like you to answer …
Ramp or pool?
Sigh …
Now you have to answer

On or above the coping?
On the coping

Indy or some other crap?
Indy, no, you mean truck, haha … Damn you are evil, did you write the questions huh?
No, not really … :)

I’m both and like them both but Old School then …

Frontside or backside
(After a little reflection) Frontside

(No hesitation) Wood

Inside or outside?
(Confused look)
Indoors or outdoors then, so you understand …
What questions … I can not answer, everywhere

Bigger or smaller than 60 mm?
What the hell do I have?
(Puttis checks)

Pizza grip, hehe .. yes, normal

Damn, I’m not deviating from normal at all …
